Happy birthday to me!! 2013

Ok my birthday was on the 16th but this post is about it really cause I did my nails to match an outfit I wore out for my birthday dinner (Mexican....yum! Hehe). I didn't take any pictures that night of me and or the outfit. Normally if I am copying an outfit or accessory I'd take pics of said outfit/accessory, but I don't know as I've gotten older (33...shudders) I'm not much into taking pictures of birthdays. My own anyways, other people's....no problem lol. Anyway here are my nails and I'll tell how I did this effect below.
By the way that's the longest my nails have ever been. I was going to try to keep them as long as I could this way but they kept breaking one by one so I have to start all over again which sucks but what can you do. By  the way that was rhetorical I know what to do I'm putting some clear polish on my nails to strengthen and make them grow long again before I do another post, shouldn't be long my nails tend to grow fast.
Now to how I did this. First I painted them white(which so happens be the color of the shirt) then I took a regular triangular make up sponge and paintedit the  two colors I wanted like this
And just sponged it onto my nail. If you see any white us because i thought the white was dry in some spots but it wasn't , but i think it made the effect even cooler. By some miracle I barely got any polish on my skin but if you do just take a Q-tip and dip it in acetone and clean it up like you normally would any polish getting on your skin. Then put in top coat and there you have it. If you all try this post your picture on here or my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/nailingitbymystie

See ya!

Shelly's Sassy Saturday nail art contest May 2013

My latest manicure was for a contest on Facebook. The owner of the page (Shelly's Sassy Nails) has a nail art contest at the beginning of the month with a different theme for each. This month's theme was : Fashion. It could have been anything from your favorite outfit you own,or an outfit you've seen somewhere else, or an accessory you have seen or own. Anything you can replicate the design of on your nails. Well I first picked a dress I had seen Nicole Ritchie wear somewhere. But before I could do that I was looking through early entries and saw some else had done something too similar and hers looked better than what I could have done so I wasn't about to embarrass myself that way so I searched for something else. Here is the original dress
Because you can use whatever you like to make the nail art I was going to use a stamper I have to make the flowers. I tried looking through my own things but didn't find anything that I wanted or possibly even could replicate so I looked online. There is this one designer I love her stuff(but soo can't afford lol) and it's Betsey Johnson and I found this purse of hers I loved so I did that. Didn't win ( did I mention that theme was MY idea lol ) but I'm proud of how it turned out. I think I'm finally learning how to do this right. Let me know what you think. Here is the original purse and my nail art
The gold was to represent the chain and I tried to do the leopard print to the best of my ability. Not bad for my first time lol. That print is one I have to keep practicing on for sure. That's all for now check back for more manicures(I'm getting in a mood to do more of these so watch out!! Lol) TTFN(ta ta for now) :-D

OPI liquid sand Mariah Carrey's Can't Let Go review

There will be no pictures of this cause I had this color put on my nails by a professional nail technician and this blog is supposed to be about my own nail art work not someone else's. but I just wanted to give a quick review of it anyway( I do plan on getting my own bottle of this later on). I was a little skeptical about these liquid sand colors, but I can honestly say that this latest trend in nail art is really something. May be even better than crackle/shatter. The finished product is a little scaly feeling but it's still cool. The look isn't that different then just another glitter nail except it may look scaly in certain angles. But overall I think it's worth it. Now if I can find it in my local Wal-mart. Wish me luck! If I get any I'll do another review with my own nails:-)

Influenster brand challenges

Just thought I'd do a couple if quick blogs here since I haven't in a while. For anyone who has Influenster boxes I just got a couple emails the other day telling me I won the Kiss Nail brand challenge and NYC makeup from the Holiday VoxBox. I didn't think I'd win cause so many must have entered so I was really surprised when I won not one but two!! I'll add pictures when I get my prizes. I really hope it's good. That's all for now bye!:-)

A dilemma

I've been thinking a lot lately about doing videos for my blog(polish hauls, tutorials, box openings-julep, birchbox etc). Here's the thing I have an account on YouTube already that I have used to "favorite" videos , should I put my videos on that potentially letting you see what I've favorited over the years(nothing bad/pornographic I just think it might be boring to some people), or should I create a brand new channel just for my blog? What do you guys think? Leave me a note here. Thanks!!

Mystery polish

I know I haven't been here in a while. No excuses and I hope no one has dropped me from their blog reading list. I don't know when but I will try and post more regular. If anyone knows me outside this blog it might help if you "remind me" I have a blog lol.
Any way I've gotten some polishes lately I'm dying to show you. But the purpose of this post is about another polish set. A few months back I got these mystery polishes by Julep. They sold them as a mystery set. What I thought they meant was I would know the names when I got em. Well I got em and no names were printed on them at all. It wouldn't bother me except that I document them by name on the app I showed ya'll a few months ago. Plus I put them away in alphabetical order. I'm tempted to just make up my own names and do it that way but I really want their proper names if any. Here is the picture of the polishes.

So what do you think? Please leave comments below.

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine Review

This is what I got in my Influenster Holiday 2012 VoxBox.

I love how smoothly it went on. The shine you can see on my lips but the color is a little too light for my skin tone but I loved it so I bought a color more suited to my skin tone. The one I bought is called Fashion Ave Fuschia. The one pictured above is called Nude York City(how clever right? lol) When I bought it at Wal-mart it only cost me $2.00
